I knew George very well when we were working together at Chase in the 80's in the Petroleum Group. But we were also great friends socially. Lots of partying out in the Hamptons and many many late nights dancing at the Palladium. George also replaced me as client exec for amongst others Exxon.
He met Jane later in our friendship and I remember their wedding well. I knew most of his life story but did not ever hear about his time in Vietnam.
George was a truly lovable guy who I never heard say a bad word about anyone and he had such a positive attitude it was highly contageous.
I have lots of stories about George but the one I remember best was him buying dinner for at least 12 of us after a party at my appt one night.
We ribbed him mercilessly as we all had oysters and I was the ONLY one not struck down them.
Very sad to see him pass. He will be missed by many
RIP

I first met George as a member of the VMI swim team in 1960-61. He swam on the Southern Conference championship team in 1961-62. At VMI George served as a cadet lieutenant. He served in Vietnam as an Army officer and won a bronze star. He was an important member and major contributor on the VMI Foundation Board. I became reacquainted with George when we started spending summers in Madison, CT. 25 years ago and discovered George was a neighbor and fellow member of the Madison Beach Club. My wife and I have enjoyed many dinners with Jane and George where we often discussed our experiences at the Institute, military history and our careers in finance. George“s love of collecting military objects especially sabers was at museum level. George will be missed by his many friends here in Madison and his Brother Rats. May he rest in peace.
