Gerald Delmonico Obituary

Gerald Michael Delmonico
Gerald Michael Delmonico (Jerry), 85 years, died suddenly at home on July 30, 2025, in Palm Springs, CA. Jerry was born in New Haven, CT on May 15, 1940, to Rose and Gerald Delmonico of New Haven. Jerry graduated from St. Mary's Academy in New Haven. Jerry was an active 4H club member and won a national 4H award for running the best banking system. Jerry married in Palm Springs to Gary Hermanowski, also once from CT where he and Jerry met and lived together for 48 years. Jerry was employed early in his carrier at Grand Lighting Supply where he was able to exercise his creative talents with sophisticated lighting design all over central CT. Jerry continued his creative career at Fairfield Lighting and Design for 20 years as general manager and lighting designer. Jerry and Gary lived on Windsor RD in North Haven for 28 years then moving to Rancho Mirage then Palm Springs CA.
I would like to thank all our friends in CT for all the heartfelt remembrance cards and text messages, this would've made Jerry very happy.

Yesterday

I lost a best friend when Jerry passed. My memories of every Sundays at my house, the parties he helped me plan, the trips with our family but especially Xmas eve with Jerry and Gary will forever be my best memory. This is such a big loss for so many who had the privilege of being a friend of Jerry, he was my family and I cherish the times we spent together. I love you Jerry and I know you are in a wonderful place

My dear Gary.. years have passed quickly, but it seems like yesterday that I was at the house on Windsor Rd ... having dinner & sharing life with my two very wonderful friends! Jerry was always there for me... helping me heal from divorce & teasing me that I could never be as good at design without his help! I miss him & I will always cherish the friendship that I was blessed to experience with both of you. I will hope to speak with you soon.

Gary, so sad to learn of Jerry´s passing. He was one of my bosses at Grand Light. I can still hear him call my name ( which he did a lot) to track me down - Lol! He actually matched my husband and I together- we are married for 46 years. So Jerry will always hold a special place in my heart- and I thank him for many good memories we all had working together. Rest easy Jerry...

I believe Gerald lived next door to me on West Street in New Haven. He was a little younger but I remember him as a good guy and we would often play in his back yard. I am very sad to hear of his passing and I know my brother would be also. He died about two years ago. My sincere condolences.

Dear Gary

We are so sorry. Jerry was always a sincere and kind person. We miss our calls back and forth each week. We loved him. Every time I see the beautiful lighting in my house, I think of Jerry. We had wonderful Christmas days with both of you. We are very happy that he met you and had a great 48 years. You enriched Jerry´s life so much. Jerry couldn´t have a better partner to spend his life with. I know that there are wonderful memories that will bring a smile on your face. Gary, we love you and we´ll stay in touch.

There are people that you meet in life that have such an amazing impact on you that even if you don't see them everyday, your bond is as strong as ever. Me and Gil were so sad when Gary and Jerry moved to CA, but fortunately we were able to visit multiple times and it was like no time passed between us. Jerry's passing has been so painful and we wish we were there for Gary, but we met their friends and know that he will be surrounded with love and support. And let's not forget Gracie, she gave Jerry so much love. WOW 48 Years, in our gay community they were our role models!!! Jerry will be missed by all who knew him, and there will be a piece missing in all of our hearts.
