Ian Roth Obituary
On April 29, 2025, Ian Maxwell Roth, a longtime resident of Madison, Connecticut and most recently, Bybee, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 33.
He left us far too soon.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine L. (Katie) Sorell, the love of his life, formerly of Greenwich and recently of Bybee, Tennessee; his parents John D. (Jack) and Judith Ann B. (Judy) Roth of Madison; his brother and sister-in-law, John D. (Jack) Roth Jr. and Amy E. Roth, and niece, Margot Ann Roth of New Haven; and his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, of whom he adored. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Boudicca and Lucy, and cherished cat, Lola.
Ian was born on October 7, 1991 in Stamford, Connecticut. He grew up in Madison, attended Daniel Hand High School and graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Accounting, magna cum laude in 2016. That same year he was named a Beta Gamma Sigma inductee. He held positions at Federici Brands, PWC, Interactive Brokers, and most recently, as Information Protection Senior Manager for The Cigna Group, where he won a company-wide management award.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, infectious laugh and enthusiasm. He and Katie loved cooking and enjoying good food together, traveling, amusement parks, and of course, whiskey. He was always dabbling in something creative; candle making, blacksmithing, jewelry making, brewing, and distilling, just to name a few. He had a passion for learning and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge with others in the hope of finding ways to improve the world, himself, and those around him.
We mourn the loss of Ian but celebrate the joy and laughter he brought to our lives.
He will be missed more than we can express but will forever live in our hearts.
A private memorial service was held at Chamard Vineyards in Clinton, Connecticut on June 12, 2025.
