John Lorusso Obituary

John C. Lorusso
John C. Lorusso, 92, longtime Woodbridge resident, husband of the late Dorothy Maher Lorusso, passed away on March 25, 2023 at the West Haven VA Medical Center. Born in Hamden, CT on August 2, 1930, to the late Pietro and Eva Consenzo Lorusso. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
John was a master carpenter, having worked in construction his whole life, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 24. When not working, John still used his carpentry talents on different wood crafts, including furniture and helping his grandson with a scouting project. Even after retiring, he built a home in Vermont for his family's enjoyment. When not creating wood masterpieces, he enjoyed gardening, and above all else, loved time spent with his family, especially his grandson.
John will be remembered by his daughter, Brenda Dombkowski; his son, John Lorusso; his grandson, Jamie Dombkowski; his brother and his wife, James "Vinnie" and Josephine Lorusso; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolann and Henry Patz; numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Robert Apuzzo and his wife Christina. He was predeceased by his siblings, Judy Colletti and Peter and Richard Lorusso. The family would like to thank the staff of the West Haven VA Medical Center for their outstanding care and compassion.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd., Woodbridge, CT 06525. Burial will be private. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. To leave a condolence for his family, please see obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com .

Brenda and family, Very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a kind man who was easy to talk to and easy to smile. I will always cherish the times I would sit with your Dad and his brothers at a family gathering and listen to them go at it and each other about every topic under the sun. I will miss him and those times but I am grateful for the memories. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
