JOHN REID Obituary

REID, JOHN EDWARD John Edward Reid, of Waltham, MA, formerly of Branford, died Saturday August 22, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of the late Anita Yanez Reid. Mr. Reid was born in New York, NY, July 21, 1920, son of the late John Edward and Frances Sheridan Reid. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a carpet department manager at Wayside Furniture, Milford, CT until retiring. Mr. Reid had been a longtime Branford resident and served on the Branford Zoning Board of Appeals. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 83 serving as a Post Commander. He had been an usher and commentator at St. Mary Church. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Holland of Newton, MA, and Susan Knopick of Denton, TX; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his son John Edward Reid, III. Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Wednesday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Linda:

I'm so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. I understand your emotions, having lost my own Dad 14 years ago.

Many years have gone by, but memories never fade. I think of you often and hope you are well. May you and your family find strength during this most difficult time.
