Josephine "JoAnn" Longobardi Brennan 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at The Grimes Center in New Haven. She was the widow of Dalton H. Brennan and formerly of Pardee Pl in East Haven. She was born in New Haven on May 13, 1940, daughter of the late Salvatore and Angeline Perrelli Longobardi and lived in East Haven for over 60 years.
Mrs. Brennan was a graduate of St. Mary High School and Quinnipiac University. She was a licensed funeral director who owned and operated East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, the family business, for 30 years after illness had forced her father's retirement in 1983. She served as President of the Greater New Haven Funeral Directors Association (1981-1984) and the Connecticut Funeral Director's Association in 1994.She was very active in the Town of East Haven and the parish of St. Vincent DePaul Church.
JoAnn is survived by her two sons, David Brennan, James and his wife Maryann Guida Brennan, and three beloved grandchildren Jason, Melissa and Dalton Brennan.
Mrs. Brennan's family will be receiving friends on SUNDAY, June 4, 2023 from 4PM-7PM at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven. Her funeral will leave East Haven Memorial Funeral Home on MONDAY, June 5, 2023 at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish-St. Vincent DePaul Church (80 Taylor Ave., East Haven) at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in East Lawn Cemetery.

My sincerest sympathy to David, Jimmy and families. Your mom had a very full life and gave much of herself to all of the organizations and clubs that had the pleasure of her commitment. I have found childhood memories of the family at your grandparents’ pool and your mom getting her brand new convertible. I’m sure she will be missed by family and friends.

To lose someone you love dearly hurts. There is very little you can do to ease the pain or the anticipated void that precludes the loneliness that follows.
I’m sure everyone can understand. Everybody experiences this sometime in their life and if you’re lucky to have truly loved several people in this world well you fight through the emotional state the pain of losing someone you loved has put you in.
Simply put I know JoAnn is with my uncle Dalt and they are now together in Heaven dancing, laughing and smiling with their relatives and friends who went before them.
I have been left behind to recognize their contributions to our family at large and countless contributions to the Town of East Haven and the State of Connecticut.
I will raise my glass and quietly thank my aunt JoAnn for being the person she was and count my lucky stars for having been blessed to know and love her.
