Josephine Pearce Obituary

Josephine "Jo-Ann" Pearce
March 12, 1947 ~ July 23, 2024
Josephine "Jo-Ann" Pearce, 77 of New Haven passed away peacefully at CT Hospice on July 23, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born March 12, 1947, in New Haven to Louis and Julia (DePalma) Vollono. Jo-Ann is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Francis "Skeeter" Pearce and their three children; Francine Pearce OBrien, Jennifer Ciaburro (Louie), and Jonathan Pearce, along with seven grandchildren whom she adored; Julia Jalbert (Eric), Aedan OBrien, Christian Ciaburro, Alex Ciaburro, Derek Ciaburro, Miguel Pearce, and Daniel Pearce. She is also survived by a great-grandson, Archie Jalbert and soon-to-be twin great-granddaughters and her five siblings: Vincent Vollono (Helen), Rae Silvestro, Louis Vollono (Patty), Joseph Vollono (Carol) and Stephen Vollono (Laurel) and many nieces and nephews.
Jo-Ann is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Corey Richmond (2022).
Prior to Jo-Ann's retirement, she worked for several years as a customer service representative for Southern Connecticut Gas Company. Throughout her time there, she made many lifelong friends who were more like family.
Jo-Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family and friends above all things. Jo-Ann was the "life of the party", never without a funny story or memory to share. She held strong with her family traditions, especially during the holiday seasons. Jo-Ann was sure to always carry on her mom's legacy of delicious Italian cooking and made sure that no one ever left her home hungry or without a meal "to go." Her warm and loving spirit made everyone feel welcome in her home. She took great pride in being a mom, not only to her own children, but anyone that was special to them. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. Their Mimi always made sure to be involved in whatever was going on in each one of their lives. Mimi never missed a beat. Her family was her world. She enjoyed lunches with her treasured friends, chatting on Facebook with her cherished cousins, playing Words with Friends, and sharing recipes. She will be deeply missed by all.
All services are private and under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Donations may be made in Jo-Ann's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN 38105, a special charity that she held dear to her heart.

Skeeter, Francine, Jonathan, Jennifer and family
I have been blessed to have JoAnn in my life.
As a young wife, JoAnn took me under her wing. She taught me so much. Her wisdom and lessons were taught to me in loving ways and always with a touch of humor. Because of her my shades will always hang at even lengths. So many stories to tell!!!
The grace of JoAnn is that she made EVERYONE feel as though they were special, and a part of her family. A rare quality indeed!!!
To say I was blessed to be part of your tremendous family is an understatement. I have loved JoAnn since the moment I met her. My mentor, my confidante.
I will miss her forever, her voice will resonate through my head and my heart until I have the glory of being with her again
I love you JoAnnski, My Stone, my sister -in-love, and most of all, my friend
