Julia Flynn McGowan, formerly of Jones Street, West Haven, died on July 22, 2022. Julia was born in Montreal, Canada, on April 6, 1926. The daughter of the late Edward Flynn and Julia Crowley Flynn. Julia (Julie) was a member of the St Theresa's Guild and the New Haven Council of Catholic Women. She was a parishioner of St Lawrence Church her entire life. She worked many years for the railroad as a comptometer operator. Julia enjoyed spending her summers swimming in the ocean and loved the beach. She was a big fan of movies and loved to dance. Julia was the wife of the late John J. McGowan Sr. She was the mother of Patricia (Billy) Bruneau of West Haven, Kathleen, (Mark) Orcutt of Naugatuck, John McGowan Jr. (Laura) of Cheshire, Edward (Aida) McGowan of West Haven and Joseph McGowan also of West Haven. Julia also leaves behind her sisters, Sister Catherine Flynn of New Britain, CT, and the late Mary Flynn and Agnes Flynn. Also surviving are her 8 grandchildren. The family would like to thank Apple Rehab in West Haven for taking great care of our mom for the last 10 years. Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, on Wednesday evening, July 27 from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church, Main St., West Haven. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
