Kent was a great teacher. I´ll never forget his sense of play and his delight for all manners of messy and strange geometric explorations from us, his students. He always brought an open mind and conveyed true personal warmth in his classes, while tirelessly pushing for the importance of art and ornamentation as an integral part of architecture. His teachings and advice are forever with me, as are memories of the welcome party he hosted for us as we dauntingly started our first year of YSOA- my first introduction to the real beauty of the shoreline marshlands. Fare well, in spirit.

I am so deeply sad to learn of Kent´s passing. I had worked with Kent when I oversaw the Public Art Program City of New Haven. He made the most beautiful piece. Aluminum Arched Trellis in: 2003 for the interior of Fair Haven School, 164 Grand Avenue and later with another school. he was so absolutely delightful to work with and made things easy for us. we enjoyed talking about materials and continued to do so on and off for many years after whenever I would run into him and sometime through studio visits at Erector Square. My sincere condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren.

I met Prof. Bloomer only recently and only online in the context of a lecture and workshop he carried out with students of our Building Beauty Program. What a rich life! I share your sense of loss.

I worked in the Bloomer studio at Erector Square in 2013 and was received into Kent´s family of fabricators. He, and they, taught me, supported me, listened to timid ideas and shared meals with me. Kent even invited me to be a visiting tutor at a couple of critiques at the Yale School of Architecture - I was very nervous but his was a steadying presence - he included me. Kent was kind and fiery and generous and curious - I felt at home in his workshop despite being a Brit who never fully felt at home in the States. I will remember him very fondly and always be grateful for the chance he gave me and for the inspiring, generous team he worked with. They loved, respected and tolerated him in equal measure; they supported his vision, shared ideas and flourished in the wonderful environment he had created by gathering them together.
