Larry DePalma Obituary
Larry DePalma of Delray Beach, FL and Branford, CT died peacefully on January 30, 2022, at Hospice by the Sea with his family by his side. He was the husband of Beverly Adams DePalma.
Larry was born in New Haven on February 10, 1929, to the late Michael and Louise Scarpellino DePalma.
Larry began his teaching career in 1953 at Sheridan Middle School in New Haven. In 1969, Larry was appointed Administrative Intern at Wilbur Cross High School and later was named Assistant Principal in 1979, a position he held until retirement in January 1991.
Larry played baseball for Providence College and upon graduation was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves. Larry was the head baseball coach at Wilbur Cross High School until 1974.
Besides his wife Beverly, Larry is survived by his and best friend Michael DePalma and his grandchildren Jillian (Michael) Stark and Garrett DePalma. He was predeceased by his sister Vera Santacroce and Rosemary Bliznick and his brother Joseph DePalma.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 29 Wooster Place, New Haven. Masks are required in Church. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Share a memory and sign his guest book online at www.iovanne.com. Coach DePalma was the best baseball coach I ever played for! He was an excellent teacher of the fundamentals of the game! Still can picture him sitting on a bench, drinking coffee before our practices! Harry Noyes, his assistant killed us with calisthenics, while he sat & watched!My wife & I send our condolences to the DePalma family!
