Linda Toomey-Steves Gundersen, 61, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2021 at her home. She was the wife of Robert Gundersen. Linda was born on January 15, 1960 in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Linda moved around throughout her life until she settled in West Haven. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Bob Gundersen, at the First Congregational Church of West Haven. Linda was an RN who worked at the Children's Place in East Windsor, Connecticut, and also did some work as a drug and alcohol counselor. Linda volunteered for the New Haven Rape Crisis Center, and was a member of Golden Rod Chapter #34, Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her birds, making people smile, and traveling to Martha's Vineyard. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her.
Linda is survived by her husband Robert Gundersen, her father, Richard Steves, and her stepmother, Susan Toomey. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters, Liz Toomey, Kevin Hall, Woody Steves, Sean Steves, Laurie Steves, Katie Jordan and James Steves. She will also be leaving behind 8 nieces and nephews, as well as an uncle, and several aunts and cousins. Linda was preceded in death by her biological father, John Toomey, her mother, Nancy Griebell Steves, her brothers, John, Mark Tagariello and her sister Susan Barrett.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, CT. Interment will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven. A Memorial Service will be had on Martha's Vineyard in the Fall, at a date to be determined.
