Madelyn Gullans Obituary

Madelyn Gullans
Madelyn Gullans, 93 of Branford, died July 15 at Apple Rehab in Guilford during Hospice Care after a long battle with dementia. Madelyn was born June 4, 1931, in Branford, CT to Douglas S. and Victoria Packevicz Welch. She was pre-deceased by her three brothers, Douglas C. Welch, Donald R. Welch, and David H. Welch, all from Branford.
Madelyn attended local schools and graduated from Branford High School in 1949. After high school, she worked at John Hancock in New Haven, CT. In 1955, she married Robert M. Gullans of Branford and was married 66 years until Robert's death in 2021. Together they raised two sons. In Madelyn's spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens, painting oil paintings, cooking and baking. Noticing her talents, her nieces and nephews started asking her to bake and decorate their wedding cakes.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert C. Gullans of West Haven and David J. Gullans (Patrice Marlowe) of Branford.
No calling hours, burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.
