Michael Astarita Obituary

Michael John Astarita, 76, of Killingworth, CT, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Born to Eugene and Grace Astarita on January 31, 1949, Mike filled the lives of those around him with humor, warmth, and music.
Mike had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel like family. His love was most clearly expressed through his passion for cooking and his legendary dinner parties, where good food, great company, and lots of laughter were always on the menu. A true rock and roll enthusiast, Mike loved music and movies and always had a story or a joke ready to share. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, his son, Joseph, and nephews, Gene and Tony.
A service to honor Mike's life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 65 E Grand Ave., New Haven, CT 06513. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to The Muscular Dystrophy Association or your local animal shelter, two causes that were close to his heart.

Mr. Astarita was a strong personality in my life for several years, with my being best friends with Joe as kids growing up. I'm so grateful for that. Very smart, dedicated, reliable, consistent, honest, protective, loyal. He had many interests that he willingly shared with others. Taking care of his family was always his number one priority. He will be dearly missed and very fondly remembered.
