Michael A. Nuzzo Jr. of East Haven passed away on December 28, 2018 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to the late Carmel V. Santanello Nuzzo who passed away on December 21, 2018. Michael was born in New Haven on March 22, 1932 a son of the late Michael and Mary DeGrand Nuzzo. He worked for the City of New Haven for many years. Carmel was born on October 7, 1933 a daughter of the late Giovanni and Rose Grande Santanello and was a longtime employee of C. Cowles & Co. and later worked at Mr. Donut in New Haven, then Dunkin Donuts in North Branford. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Their family was their greatest joy. They are the beloved parents of Michael (Pattie) Nuzzo, III and Deborah (Michael) Glennon and loving grandparents to David (Kirstin) Franzman and Stephanie (Ricky) DiPaola. Michael is the brother of Vincent and Ralph Nuzzo and the late Rose Esposito, Eleanor, Mary, Frank, Joseph, Nicholas, Salvatore, Dominic, Chico and John Nuzzo. Carmel is the sister of Virginia Iovanne, John "Sonny" Santanello and the late Concetta Carlson, Genevieve Smith, Grace, Charles, Joseph and Frank Santanello. Mr. Nuzzo's family would like to thank the staff of the Yale SICU 6-1 for their care and compassion, especially Carlos, Tami, Sam, Dr. LeBlanc, Dr. Bright and Dr. Maerz.
Visiting hours for Michael and Carmel will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Pl. Everyone is asked to go directly to St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish of Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Rd., East Haven, Thursday morning at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial.
