Michael Schiavone Obituary

Michael Schiavone
12-14-23
Michael's sense of humor was cherished by all who knew him; Michael was born in New Haven, Conn., on December 3, 1940. He graduated from Boston University in l963, where he then pursued his love of the scrap business. "Schiavone Alchemist", grew to one of the largest exporters of metal in the US. He is survived by his wife and four children. He met the love of his life, Joyce, in 1985, along with 3-year-old, Nick, when they started their new lives together and married in 1987. They resided in Connecticut and Florida.
Michael was a marvelous Grandfather, "Pop-Pop" to Cameron Fisser, age 11, and Caroline, age 9. His soft spot and his love of beagles brought 6 of them through their lives together, all a fond addition to the family.
Michael enjoyed playing the part of Santa yearly, since 1987, and brought joy to many children. He was an active member and Director of several organizations: The New Haven Boys & Girls Club, Hamden Hall County Day School, Albertus Magnus College, and North Haven Board of Education.
His devotion and generosity to various causes did not go unnoticed.
Michael was an avid skier golfer and fisherman. He had an eye for art and a love of all clocks.
We will all miss Mike's gentle smile and beaming, warm heart. He was fortunate to pass away at home, in the arms of his loving wife of 36 years.
His memory will live on with all who loved him!

We met Michael in 2023 so we did not know him long nor well but recognized his "Joi de Vie" and warm generous spirit immediately. May his memory be a blessing. In deep sympathy to Joyce, Nick, Cameron, Caroline and extended family. Shel & Carol Mann

Joyce,
I am saddened to hear of Michael´s passing. I used to babysit Nick when you two first started dating. I rode my bike to your house on LeGrand. Michael was such a gentleman.
May you find peace in the beautiful memories you created
together.

Thank you brother in law for making my sister Joyce a happy woman surrounding her with much love and care. Love that you both appreciate art and cared for so many people and gave to support education on many levels. Your warm smile and wit will always be remembered.
