Nardina Rescigno Obituary

Nardina (Deanie) Rescigno
It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Nardina J. (Sapienza) "Deanie" Rescigno on Friday, June 6, 2025, during her short-term stay in rehab. She was the wife of the late Gaetano Rescigno, Jr. who predeceased her in death in January 1997. Deanie was born in New Haven on February 14, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Domenica, "Mae" (Palmisano) Sapienza, Deanie was a proud graduate of the Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1953, affectionately known as the Greene Street Girls, many of which were lifelong friends. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage, raising her family to follow that tradition. Deanie had a special way of doing things: Her way, as she believed she always knew best. She was the type of person who was always there for others in need. Deanie looked forward to her breakfast gathering on Tuesday mornings with her special breakfast club friends at Twin Pines Diner and was a former member of the St. Mary's Church bereavement group. She was the devoted mother of Louis Rescigno, and Linda (Robert) DelBuono, and dear sister of Rosalie (Sapienza) Milano. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she adored, Nick and Jen DelBuono, her close friend Bill Foley, her faithful feline companion named Buddy, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday morning in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place in New Haven from 9:00-10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church at 11:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. To Louis and Linda you mom was super mom beyond all others. From our days at st. Bernadette´s yard mom hotdog hamburger day and everything in between. Dearie was there for it all. Eating over your house was a lavish meal longing for nothing. Even picking Louis and me up from ND in the blizzard of 1978. So we are broken hearted and sorry for your loss but knowing she was always there for us all. May she Rest In Peace in Christ hand for all eternity. Deanne was extra special and loved by all in Morris cove. God be with you all and remember she is always here with us. Good friend Anthony Zampano Jr.

Dee Dee was such a kind and loving person. She was a dear friend to my Mother for years. They met while they were in the choir at St Vincent De Paul´s Church and were great friends since. Years ago, Dee Dee and my Mom came over after Church and we just laughed the entire time! I feel blessed to have known such an amazing woman. My prayers and condolences to the family. She will be terribly missed.

Dee Dee was a dear friend for many years. We met In the choir at Saint Vincent De Pauls and sang praises together for over 25 years. May God comfort her family at this time of loss. I will miss her dearly.
