PAUL BARON Obituary

BARON, PAUL BICHUNSKY Paul Bichunsky Baron, 95, formerly of Meriden, Stony Creek and Evergreen Woods, CT, died Monday, February 29. Meriden was his home for 59 years, Stony Creek was his home for 32 years and Evergreen was his home for the past four years. He was married to the late Edith Baron for 67 years. A child of Eastern-European immigrants, Paul received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University in 1942 and his Executive MBA from the University of New Haven in 1980 at age 59. He wrote two books on humor and three books on buying, selling and pricing privately-held companies. One business book was translated and published in Chinese. Paul was proud of his affiliations. He was a Shriner. He was a Life Director Emeritus of the MidState Medical Center in Meriden and was a member of the Connecticut Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was a member of Temple B’nai Abraham in Meriden for over 60 years, and Temple Beth Tikvah for over 20 years. He felt that the most important joy in his life is that his children love each other. He retired after 35 years as a partner in a family-owned home-furnishings company, Meriden Auction Rooms. After a short retirement, he started a new career as a business intermediary helping companies buy and sell other companies. He was a member of Kiwanis for over 25 years, a Director of the Home Bank and Trust Co, and the Shawmut Home Bank, a Founding Member of the Farms Country Club, and served as President of the Meriden Jewish Welfare Fund. He enjoyed his hobbies of dowsing and joke collecting. Paul is survived by his son Michael and wife Ruth Magraw (children Dan, Annie and husband Steve Piwowarski, Sarah and husband Jeremy Kahan and their daughter Joanna); Dan and his partner Arthur Gaffin; Nina and husband Alan Einhorn (children Ariel, Leila, and Emily and husband Jeff Wong); and Paul’s brother, Leo Bichunsky and wife Myrna. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Temple B’nai Abraham, 127 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in B’nai Abraham Cemetery, Corrigan Avenue, Meriden. My favorite memory of Paul is every time Edith called from another room' he would say "It's not easy being me". I loved them both and will carry them always.
