Paul Mordecai Obituary

Paul Mordecai
Paul Mordecai, age 72, of Hamden, entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2022, at Midstate Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1949, in New Haven, the son of the late Daniel C. and Evelyn M. Hamilton "Chic" Mordecai. Paul was the devoted and loving husband of the late Barbara Antalik Mordecai. Beloved father of Christopher P. Mordecai of New Haven and Paul W. Mordecai of Sommerset, NJ. Cherished brother of Judith Mordecai Smith (Roger). Also leaves behind his niece Dawn Terrell of Derry, NH. He was predeceased by one brother Kenneth Mordecai. Paul worked for the Town of Hamden as a Electrician for the Board of Education for over 30 years before retirement. He loved working at Eli Whitney as an instructor teaching. He was also an electrical contractor. With a heart of gold he was always ready with a joke to make you smile, and a helping hand or prayer to all. He held court practically every day at his home when local electricians would stop by stumped with a problem on a job, they turned to him for his knowledge to bail them out. Paul was a lifer, meaning once you met him you would never forget him the rest of your life. His heart and generosity was bigger than him, he truly was one of a kind. He volunteered for Dalmatian rescue, he loved animals.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022, at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Ave. from 4-6 p.m. Thursday Morning his funeral procession will leave from Hamden Memorial at 10 a.m., for a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ The Bread of Life Parish (Blessed Sacrament Church) at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Dear Christopher, Paul, Judy & Roger,
Deepest condolences in the passing of Paul. He is at peace now with Barbara and his family. I´m sure Vinny was there to greet him. Vinny loved Paul like a brother and Paul helped him numerous times. He had so much faith and determination to get well and come home. Praying for your family at this difficult time. God bless all of you.
Love,
Sandy and children Vinny & Gina
