Pedro Rodriguez, a beloved figure in the Wooster Street community, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on July 10, 1929, in Manhattan, NY, Pedro was the son of the late Pedro Jose Rodriguez and Ana (Marido) Rodriguez.
Pedro is survived by his son Peter (Shawna) Rodriguez; daughter Christine (Lawrence) Cordova; and daughter Anne Marie Rodriguez. He was also a cherished grandfather to Chelsea (William) Cordova Walsh, and Evan Cordova, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Cole, Emmitt, and Troy Walsh. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Rodriguez, his son Robert Rodriguez, and his sister Gloria Rodriguez.
In 1964, Pedro moved his family from New York City to Wooster Street in New Haven, CT, while working for Coleco Industries. He later joined Pratt + Whitney, where he spent many years as a supervisor before retiring.
In the Wooster Street community Pedro was known for his vibrant personality. One of his passions was salsa dancing, and Pedro could be found at many local events dancing the night away with his wife Evelyn. In his later years, he continued to be a lively presence, frequently seen riding around the neighborhood in his electric chair. Pedro found great joy in creating personalized cards for family and friends. This reflected his deep affection for those he loved-if you received one of his cards, you were indeed special to him.
Pedro's infectious laugh and joyous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Words cannot fully express the void left by his passing, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
Visiting hours will be Monday September 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place, New Haven.
