We lost a great guy, I am still thinking of how this happened... in my case, he gave me a chance to improve, change my job from installations to customer service and I will always remember that Peter changed my life

My sincere condolences to Peter's (Retep's) family. I will always remember those times hiking the Whites during the Stonehill years and hanging down in Hyannis during the summer.
I am so sorry that I could not make his memorial in Connecticut.
Please take care and know that those memories will always be a part of me. Steve Langelier-Derry, NH

Condolences to peters family. In 2018 I was in the midst of a career change and Peter gave me a chance as an Av tech. I am still with the onsite company though under different contractor, but will always be grateful for Peter and what he saw in me. He was a great guy and loved to bring the team together for an outing when he was in town.

Pam and the entire Charland Family -
I arrived at Stonehill College in my sophomore year where I was fortunate to join a bunch of crazies, many from Rhode Island, in the basement of O´Hara Hall in an area of the dorm known as, The Pits. One night, a couple of RI guys said they were going to visit their friend Peter Charland down at Providence College and did I want to join them? I did and so began a life-long friendship with one of the kindest, funniest, smartest, and most genuine guys I have ever met (with an incredible record album collection at the time I might add.) He had a contagious lust for life. Who else would fly down to Georgia to try and hike the Appalachian Trail back to New England? I don´t recall how many states he made it through, but it was incredibly impressive. After college, our careers ran in parallel in telecommunications for many years, he at AT&T and me at arch enemy MCI where we sometimes bored people talking shop when we got together.
But as it typically goes with guys (me in particular) contact became much less frequent over the years with an occasional phone call here or an FB post there, and the promise of getting together soon. But the connection was still there so it was a gut punch when I saw your post about Peter`s passing. And a painful reminder not to put off to tomorrow what you can do today,
But I know what I feel pales in comparison to the pain, shock, and sadness that you are all experiencing. I pray that by celebrating his life today through stories and memories you will all feel a profound comfort that through those stories he will always be with you. Peace.

I was lucky enough to have Peter as my boss for a while, we first met face to face when I flew over to be introduced to some of our clients, on the way back from a meeting we dropped into a boat yard to look at a boat he had his eye on, which he ended up buying. we then traveled on to his home where I first met the wonderful Pam. Peters introduction was "Hey Pam, this is Rob, he made me buy a boat today!" we were friends from that point on. Janie & I will truly miss having Peter in our lives.

Peter was always smiling and laughing and his home was always open to friends and loved ones for a drink and share funny stories. I remember when he reconnected with Pam and how he shared with me how lucky he was and how happy he was to be sharing his life with her.

Peter was a great guy and friend. Enjoyed spending time with him at countless hockey rinks and soccer fields all over the place. We bonded watching our kids compete, be teammates and grow into adults. He will be missed , always had a kind word for me. God Bless Peter and the Charland family

Peter was a colleague who pushed me - in every sense of the word! He advocated for me, challenged me, and mentored me. He was always open and honest, and even when we disagreed, we respected each other and always found a path forward. He made me better and I will always be grateful for the opportunities I had because of him. Rest in peace.

We remember first meeting Peter and Pam at a restaurant and quickly striking up a conversation. This lead to an exchange of phone numbers and an ongoing friendship. Peter always was very generous with his time and talents. We will miss him greatly. He was a unique, warm and loving husband, father, and friend. He was taken too soon from our lives

I was fortunate to get to know and work with Peter, though it was only toward the end of his career. It didn´t take long to realize how intelligent and emotionally aware he was. His team deeply loved and respected him, and he was a true mentor to many. I will always remember him.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends, who I´m sure will miss him dearly.
