Esposito, Phyllis S.
Phyllis S. Esposito, 84, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on March 21, 2018.
The memorial service will be held at Southwest church of Christ in Lakeland, Florida on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 730p.m.
Phyllis was born in New Haven, Connecticut on October 27, 1933. She graduated from Wilbur Cross High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Elementary Education as well as a Sixth Year Diploma in Reading from Southern Connecticut State University (formerly New Haven State Teachers' College).
Phyllis was married to John Esposito on July 17, 1961; they were married 56 years.
Phyllis worked as an elementary school teacher for the New Haven Board of Education for 33 years. She enjoyed movies, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Phyllis was also actively involved in church activities, including teaching children's Bible classes. She was a literacy volunteer for Read Lakeland.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, John Esposito, daughter Laura (Darryl) Goolsby, grandchildren, Joshua (Kelsey) Goolsby, Lanie (Jason) Smith, Joseph (Eva) Goolsby, great-grandchildren, Aurora Goolsby and Haiden Smith, and other family and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Phyllis (Mongillo) Santangelo, and brother Joseph Santangelo, Jr. The family wishes to thank the Manor at the Estates at Carpenter's for caring for her in the final stage of her life.
