To the Foti family,

I was so saddened to hear of Richie's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Federal courthouse in New Haven. He was always laughing, smiling, and talking about his next trip to Florida. He reminded me of George Hamilton, always full of life and looking great. He was one of my favorites, and will be forever missed.

To the Foti family, I wish to express my sorrow for your loss. I had the pleasure and the honor to with Detective Richard Foti. Rich was a great Detective who took his work seriously, but not himself...what a great quality in an individual. Richard had a contagious laughter and humor about life that was infectious. The NHPD was "lucky" to have Detective Richard Foti as one of their FINEST! Chief Francisco Ortiz

I am presently in Florida and will not be able to attend his services. This picture of Rich epitomizes the humor he shared with everyone. There was hardly a moment in every single day, that he didn't make one or a whole room laugh. I was fortunate to have Rich as my partner for awhile, while working for the NHPD. I would look forward just to see what he would come up with every day. Along with his sense of humor, he was a truly compassionate person to every one he dealt with. Since I retired, and when I needed something to be uplifting, I would think about some of the experiences we had together. The funniest being, when executing a search warrant in the Valley, we encountered a close call with a house alligator. He handled it like a true professional, after he had a lengthly case of laughter. We shared many of our own experiences, and I know he was a great husband and father, and that family always came first. I regret that I had not gotten together with him after retirement, but I have enough memories of him to last my life time. Rest in peace, good buddy.
