Rose Mauri Obituary

Rose Mauri
1/14/2023
Rose A. Mauri (Acabbo) 88, of Fairfax, VA passed away peacefully on January 14th with her children at her side. Wife of the late Robert Mauri, mother of Melissa (Matthew) Forrest and Craig (Gianna) Mauri; grandmother to Mitchell and Maarten Forrest and Valentina Mauri. Rose was the youngest of nine children of the late Jessie (Falcone) and John Acabbo, who immigrated from Maiori, Italy. Rose is preceded in death by siblings Viola Mauri, Madeline Barulli, Mary Brownstein, John, Joseph, Ralph, Anthony, and Henry Acabbo.
Rose grew up in West Haven and also lived in North Haven, Cheshire and Wallingford before relocating to Lake Worth, Florida and finally Virginia. After having children, Rose became a committed homemaker, mother, and spouse. When not in the kitchen cooking Italian classics or experimenting with new ideas, Rose and Bob could often be found poolside or at the beach, enjoying the sunshine.
The family held a small Catholic burial at Fairfax Memorial Park where Rose was laid to rest beside her husband Robert. In lieu of flowers, a charitable contribution could be made to fund mental health research at nimh.nih.gov
