Roseann Iacomacci Obituary

Roseann Marie Iacomacci
Prize-winning journalist Roseann Marie Iacomacci, 70, of Derby, CT, was called home to the Lord on March 27, 2023. She was born on November 3 1952, daughter to the late Dominick and Elizabeth (Veglio) Iacomacci. She leaves behind a beloved sister, Anita Iacomacci of Derby, uncle and aunt Ed and Rita Sadick, several cousins and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by many aunts, uncles and cousins. During her almost 40-year career, Roseann won three first-place prizes and lesser awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists. She edited or helped to edit such major news stories as the Stratford toll plaza crash, the L'Ambience apartment building collapse and the Sandy Hook massacre. She also was sent to Europe several times to write travel stories. Roseann was proud to have worked with some young journalists who now enjoy a national following. Career aside, Roseann's first love remained Shakespearean studies. She held a master's degree in the literature of Shakespeare's era, and won a thesis commendation for her work from Southern Connecticut State University. She had also attended the University of Connecticut. In her personal life, Roseann loved spending time with her sister. They particularly enjoyed movies, shopping and luncheon meetings with friends and family. Roseann also cherished socializing with former classmates, some going back to kindergarten. She organized many mini-reunions, including an annual Christmastime get-together. As she "shuffles off this mortal coil," Roseann says she cherished and appreciated her relationship with every friend, relative, schoolmate and coworker who ever held a place in her heart. Friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. On Monday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roseann's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or https://www.stjude.org/donate , or St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby, CT 06418. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. When the Lord calls a loved one home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Roseanne had an interesting career and many memories with families and friends.

Thinking of you always during this wrenching time, Anita. Rose and I shared so many laughs during our time as cubicle neighbors at the Register. I miss her all the time, especially when I dredge up a Shakespearean phrase she taught me.
