ASTRAUSKY, SANDOL LEWIS In CT Hospice, Branford, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, Sandol Lewis Astrausky, 86, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Guilford and Madison, CT. Wife of the late James V. Astrausky. Born in Sand Hill Cove, RI on March 1, 1928, daughter of the late Edmund V. Lewis and Mary Emily Grove. She leaves a beloved son, James L. Astrausky and his wife Holly Wakelee Astrausky of Guilford, CT, her beloved daughter, Sandol E. Astrausky MacLeod and her husband Rory MacLeod of Hope Valley, RI. Besides her children she leaves her brothers, Edmund S. Lewis of Northport, LI, William J. Ziebell of Milford, CT, her sisters, Pearl L. Post of Wallingford, CT, Diana C. Lewis of Terryville, CT and Wendy J. Griffen of Prospect, CT. Predeceased by sisters Evelyn L. Jordan and Patricia L. Deetz. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Much love to her caregiver Eugenia Czeropski. Mrs. Astrausky was brought up in Old Lyme, CT. She lived in Branford, CT and graduated from Branford High School then lived in Fair Haven, CT for 18 years. She attended Quinnipiac College where she received her BS in Nutrition and also earned her Real Estate License. Mrs. Astrausky was an Administrative Secretary in the First Selectman’s Office, Guilford, for 17 years prior to her retirement. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business for 45 years. She was active in the Leete’s Island Garden Club of Guilford, a member of the Guilford Keeping Society, Secretary-Treasurer for the Kelsey Pond improvement Association for 25 years, active in an Art Club, earned her Brokers License in Real Estate, and very active in ASAP, a support group for a rare spinal cord disease Arnold Chiari/Syringomelia, which she had. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to American Syringomelia/Chiari Alliance Project Inc, PO Box 1586, Longview, TX 75606-1586.
