Hey Tessa and family,

Aili has been telling me about all you've been going through, and I just wanted to reach out and let you know you have my sympathy and my deepest condolences. My younger sister is 18 and I'd be absolutely devastated if something happened to her. If you ever need anything at all, Aili and I are here for you and happy to help. Hope things are going well and hopefully I'll see you next time you're in NYC.

Sincerely,
Jamison

The Engels,

Toby was one of the closest friends I that I can honestly say I ever had. He was quiet and passive, yet always had something to say about everything when asked and was never afraid to speak his mind. I'll miss all the times that he and Brandon Ferguson and I would just hang out in Brandon's basement with not much to do but chill out and enjoy one an others company, ordering Chinese food most of the time and having a bunch of laughs. I'd have to say one of my fondest times with Toby was during prom weekend when a bunch of us all went camping and Toby and I insisted that no music other than Phish was played. Like everyone, I cannot believe this tragedy has happened; please know that your family remains in my prayers

Tessa and family,

Although I didn't know Toby that well, something shook me deep inside when I heard what had happened. My heart has led me to hiking and climbing lately, and I guess it hits hard when this pursuit takes a kindred spirit. I still remember great times and shenanigans on the school bus, and how us Westwoods kids had to band together for that ever-so-long commute. It's impossible for me to fathom what this must be like for you, but obviously if I can help in any way, don't be afraid to ask.

Much love,

Ellen Egerton

Dearest Len, Moira, and Tessa,

You are never far from my thoughts and will continue to be in my prayers. There aren't adequate words for things like this... Toby was so loved and brought so much joy and laughter to my life. Those Costa Rica memories are forever embedded into my memory. It was absolutely beautiful. I got to know a really wonderful friend on that trip. I remember Toby and can't help but think of how his whole life seemed to sing that ever beautiful Costa Rican mantra of "¡pura vida!" - "full of life". I can still hear him say it now. I know we'll see him again one day in a place that is even more like paradise. Until then, my love is always with you.

Dear Len and Family
I'm not sure what words of comfort can make up for the loss you are experiencing so I would like to say thank you for bringing Toby to Karate Class at Wintergreen Magnet School for those four years. He was a joy to teach, he never gave up, when frustrated and challenged he always found a new way to cope. I have taught thousands of studnets in the past 46 years and I want you to know many of those I don't always remember but Toby was one of a special breed. His desire to succeed was an inspiration to all. His memory we will commit to our hearts and his spirit to god who gave it. God Bless.

To Toby's family,
Although he was only my student for a week this semester, I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to having Toby in my marine biology class and helping him learn about a subject that he cared so much about. I am grateful for those 6 classes that we had together and I will keep you all close to my heart for a long time.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their memories and love of Toby with our family. There was an omission of some information and his obituary will run in full tommorow. Toby was also a much beloved uncle to 9 nieces and nephews who idolized him. When he was with them they were climbing on him or throwing pillows at him shrieking with pure laughter, and he was so happy and always smiling at the same time. He loved them so much and they loved him just as much. He also has a loving Aunt and Uncle and two cousins in New Jersey who loved him so much. Tommorows obituary should reflect this. Thank you so much.

We were so saddened to hear of Toby's passing. My son Anthony (AJ) was a classmate of Toby's at WIMS. Toby and AJ spent many play dates together and despite life taking them in different directions, Anthony often recalls their times together.

Dear Lenny,

I My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family over this tragic loss. The loss of a child, to me, is unimaginable but, God will see you all through this I know. I was really just getting to know more about your family at the reunion last year. It's is a loss to us all that Toby was taken away before he was able to make his contribution to this troubled world. I'm sure it would have been a meaningful one. It seems God, in his wisdom, needed Toby more and that speaks to Toby's pure spirit. I know that Toby will be looking down on you and the family to give special guidance and protection, praying for you all in the years and decades to come.

Dear Engel family,
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Toby. He often came to visit his friends in the ceramics room during his lunch. The last time I saw him in January, he was laughing with his friends in my room, and I gave him a hug and told him I was looking forward to having him in ceramics this semester. He told me he had to drop my course because of a schedule change, and I told him I was very sad about that. I know he is in the arms of our angels in heaven. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and love. Toby, and all of your family are in my constant prayers.
