TRUDY MARINO Obituary

MARINO, TRUDY WALSH Scotts Valley, CA. -Trudy Walsh Marino, 73, formerly of Old Saybrook and North Haven, CT and East Orleans, MA, died Easter Sunday at home surrounded by her family and brother, after a courageous battle with brain cancer and kidney disease. Trudy was the loving wife of 50 years to Ronald Francis Marino and the daughter of the late James Joseph and Gertrude Clancy Walsh. She was born March 3, 1942, in Grace New Haven Hospital. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 from Bryant College and her Masters of Science in Management from Lesley College in 1996. She worked as a paralegal for over 40 years sharing her talents and intelligence with several law firms including, William Gallagher of New Haven and Glenn Rowley of Chatham, Massachusetts. She was known for her independent, feisty nature and her quick wit. She never avoided challenging obstacles but rather taught others how to “lean in” to problems. Throughout her medical battles, she would often reflect, “if a bee can fly, I can face this challenge head-on.” Trudy enjoyed traveling to Italy and Ireland. She loved cooking, gardening and planning a festive party that often included childhood and college friends. She especially loved her trips to Pilgrim Lake and Skaket beach with her grandchildren on Cape Cod, Massachusetts where she lived for 34 years. In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her three devoted daughters and their families Cyndi and Timothy Williams and granddaughter Taylor of Harwich, MA. Erin and Michael Robbins and grandsons Brody and Cole of Scotts Valley, CA., Elizabeth and Edward Luisi and grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia, Grace and Ella of Tomkins Cove, NY. She is also survived by her thoughtful and steadfast brother, James Joseph Walsh Jr. of Branford, CT, her niece Colleen Lotto and her children Brooke and Alex of Branford, CT, and her nephew James Joseph Walsh III and his wife Dina and their children Declan, Claire and Kyra of Wilmington, MA. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and keeping with Trudy’s value system, “it is more important to give than to receive,” memorial contributions may be made to the Trudy Walsh Marino, Neurology and Nephrology Guardian Angel c/o Philanthropy at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, 2025 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062.
