Mr. Bohmer was my English teacher for three years. He challenged every one of his students to their full potential that he knew they had but we, as snobby little teenagers, didn't care to see. He was always laid back but was serious when need be. Mr. Bohmer had a huge impact on the kids at Gilbert A. Dater for the past 9 years. May his soul rest in peace.

I am very sorry to learn of Matt's death. I enjoyed competing with him--and against him--in our younger days. He was a good guy. May God bring Matt to heaven and console his family and friends.

Dear Melissa and children: How very shocked and saddened I was to hear of Matt's passing. I recall when he was hired at Dixie to teach with us in the English Department, and he was a real asset for all of us. He had such a winsome personality, and I know he will be missed. May God bless and comfort all of you not only today, but in many days to come. He surely will be missed. Priscilla Roberts, Alexandria

My heart is saddened today as I have heard about Matt. I was his J.V. basketball coach and head baseball coach when he attended Beechwood H.S. I can honestly say that he was one of the best kids that ever played for me. He was competitive, a leader, and very supportive of the teams he played on. His memory will live on with me the rest of my life. Even though I now live many miles away, I will miss him. My prayers are with his family.

Mr. Bohmer was the most encouraging man I have ever met. He has inspired me to become an educator because of his love to help children succeed. The love him and his wife shared was not hidden. Anyone could tell they were so in love when Melissa would walk into the room. My prayers and best wishes go out to Melissa and their children. In my heart they are a very strong family and even if Mr. Bohmer isn't with them physically he is there mentally and emotionally and the Bohmer family will stay strong and push through this rough time.
