Sorry to be so late with this but I found it quite by accident just now and wish to extend my condolences. Your mom was always welcoming to my brother (Hernan) and me at the Harmony Shop. We would frequently stop there on the way home from UTEP. That store was a piece of heaven for us. I would walk by your house on my way to my Saturday violin lessons with Mr. Chavez and she would sometimes be outside and wave. Once, after a symphony concert, we were stranded at a bus stop late at night and your mom (and dad) saw us and picked us up and took us all the way home. I know she loved to bake strudel. The last time I saw her was in 2005 - she was as fiery and alive as ever. Those are unforgettable memories. Please know that she made a big difference in our lives.

Jerry, it was by accident that I found this, but with sincerity I extend my condolences. It has been many years and you may not even remember me, but I will never forget the wisdom and graciousness of your mother.

What a spirit! Mollie attended several of my classes in adult learning at UTEP. She always gave me a good fight for her point of view (often misguided), but she was lively in the classes and a charmer. What a kind woman she was to those less fortunate. The community will miss her.

From 1973 to 1981, I was on the faculty at UTEP and a friend and neighbor to Mollie. She was a woman of warmth, conviction, and passion and added much to my years in El Paso.

To the beautiful Shapiro family we extend our most loving sympathy. We know very well the enlightened being that was Mollie. She was a force to be reckoned with and her fight for social justice touched many lives. We wish we could be with you at this time. Love to all. Denise, Susan, and James Carlo
