Sadly, I did not hear about Scot's death until last evening, when I was talking with another WSU Theater Orchestra member. Scot was such a tremendous musician, with a huge-talent in musical theater. Scot was a superb show-conductor and could turn every performance into a wonderful experience for not only the audience; but, all of those involved in the production, especially his show orchestras! Every rehearsal and show was always a lot of enjoyment, just soaking up his humor and kindness to his musicians and cast.
His great love of music was very contagious to all of us, involved! I know he will be greatly missed by all who ever knew Scot, especially his family, friends, fellow musicians and the WSU Theater Community
May he rest-in-peace.

While I did not have the pleasure of knowing Scot, I enjoyed his work a great deal. Surely we lost a great talent and mentor.
My mom had Scot as a gym student at WHHS for tennis class. I am sure a tennis racket wasn't his best sting instrument , but he gave it his all and was a good student none the less.
Sending much love and comfort to the family, especially Stacey and Kathryn. Missed seeing Stacey last night at the CSO. The music was outstanding!

We are greatly saddened to hear this news of Scots passing. He was a bright star with an incredible amount of talent and ability to teach. As my daughter's first vocal coach and very influential in helping her get into her performing arts HS in NYC, we are forever grateful and will miss him dearly.
Our sincere condolences to his family and friends!

A kind, gracious, generous teacher, friend, and soul. Funny, supremely talented. You made us all better.
We are missing you so painfully now, bewildered and blind-sided by the loss of you. But blessedly aware of how much you meant to us all.

I will forever miss the smiles and hugs that we would share. His teachings were effortless. He gave me a great tip on how to hit the high E in my solo , so many years ago. Loving you is easy, because you are beautiful Scot. You will be greatly missed, but, FOREVER LOVED.

My sincere condolences to Scots family.
I have had the distinct pleasure to work with Scot at Wright State University as well as at the Human Race Theatre. His joy- his passion for the music- his exquisite piano playing skills- that look over the piano at me when he would hear something just a little off (knowing I heard it, too!)- that brilliant mind and clever way of telling stories to make his point...all of this and so much more will be terribly missed, but never forgotten.
Rest In Peace, my friend. I hope well be reunited someday to make beautiful music together again.

So sorry to hear of Scot's passing. He is one person I had wanted to catch up with since returning to Cincinnati. I have fond memories of playing shows with him during my CYSO days. Always kind, always a lot of fun, and, wow, what a magician on the keys. Too soon........:( Fly high!

My heart is broken knowing my childhood friend has passed. We had a wonderful time acting in drama, singing all the time in school. He has always put a smile on my face whenever I thought of him. I can still hear his laugh and see his big smile. He wil truly be missed by so many.

I got to know Scot a little when my daughter was a BFA MT at Wright state a few years ago. He was hugely instrumental in encouraging her musically and emotionally when she was playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.
I also know most of the musicians in the pit orchestra for that and many of the other shows, and they had great admiration for Scot as a director, a musician, and as a person. A big hole in the WSU theatre arts community with his passing, RIP Scot, you will NOT be forgotten!

I consider myself so blessed to have known Scot for many years, and to work with him at Wright State. His studio was on a hallway that I did not need to walk down often, but did every day, hoping that Scot's door was open. Our conversations varied from the mundane to the musical, but I never failed to leave in a better frame of mind than I did when I got there.
As I said on my Facebook page, the quality of the musicals upstairs just got exponentially better, and our lives a bit less joyous.
I am certainly better for knowing Scot, and will hold his memory close.
All my love and thoughts to Scot's family.

I was very sad to learn of Scot's death. What a talented musician and a fun guy! My late husband Dennis and I knew Scot as a fellow singer when he toured with the Norman Luboff Choir, a couple years as a baritone and some as accompanist. Great memories of sharing those tours with Scot. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
