Shannon Marks, 42, of Hebron, KY passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 29, 2013 at her residence. Shannon was a stay at home mother whose passion in life was to be with her family and children. Shannon leaves behind her loving husband, Dereck Marks; children, Sydney Schumacher, Aidan, Jackson and Makena Marks; step-daughter, Kiarra Marks; parents, Barbara J. Helm and Gerald Helm, Sr.; sisters, Traci (Todd) Elliott, Kim (Bryan) Norton and Erin McHenry; brother, Gerald (Amber) L. Helm II; mother and father in law, Jody L. and Roland L. Marks, Sr.; as well as 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Maw-Maw, Evelyn Albert. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 5 PM-8 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. Although most of us didn't have the opportunity to meet Shannon, she touched us in such a positive way & inspired us to be better a better friend, parent, spouse, sister etc. As Shannon stated, "Time is precious and we all can be gone in an instant. Sure it's easy to get sidetracked with the day to day grinds of our lives with work, kid's school activities, dinner and bedtime. Just remember tomorrow isn't guaranteed for any of us." Oh Shannon... such a high spirited happy person, and if at times she wasn't, no one really knew! After watching her first child Sydney for her first six years, then later watching son Aidan and then for a short time baby Jackson, I can honestly say she was not only a beautiful loving mom, but also just a beautiful happy person in general. She loved to laugh and always looked at the bright side of everything! I will miss her smile and laughter and though its been a while since I took care of 3 out of 4 of her beautiful children full time, I will always cherish our special talks each day when she came to get the kids. We had fun times outside of work time also and our special friendship will be so missed but never ever forgotten. I truly believe she will be "an angel among us" and will be watching over all her loved ones, family, friends, husband, and especially her children. Heaven truly has a very bright shining new angel now. I know when she found out I had lost my full term baby, her eyes filled with tears though it had happened a couple years prior. Its one of the few times I ever seen her get so emotional. I feel good knowing she is there in that same place as my baby Taylor and is giving her hugs and love from me. Yes she was one of the strongest people I have EVER known, because even when she told me at my daughters graduation party that drs. gave her 6 mo- to a year, she kind of brushed it off, smiled and before tears completely filled my eyes, she said she didn't think they were correct and was not going to let that happen. I know she was afraid of crying if I started to. Gosh again... What a strong girl!!! She will always be my idol! Her husband Dereck, Barb her mom, her siblings, and her children were all so strong during all this. What great people they all are also.I thank God they were in her life. Gone but never forgotten!

God sends a precious few into our lives that are more than "just friends". For them you go that extra step, to ensure that you know their wants, needs likes and dislikes. When they hurt, you try and take even share their pain to lighten their burden. You remember the smallest details to make them smile, the same smile that warms your heart each time you see it.

God saw Shannon getting tired, a cure was not to be. He wrapped Shannon in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.'
She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend.She faced her pain with courage, until the very end. She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain,
