Albert Pesses Obituary

PESSES Albert Ashley Pesses, age 78, passed away from heart failure, on Sunday, February 26, 2006 in Sherman Oaks, California, where he had been living since Hurricane Katrina. Albert was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA, devoted to his family. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, Congregation Beth Israel and Gates of Prayer Synagogues. He was the owner of the former Duke's Hat Shop and Lee's Cleaners. Born April 12, 1927, Albert was the son of the late David Leon Pesses and Fanny Marmelzadt Pesses. Loving husband of Joyce Slobotsky Pesses, he was preceded in death by his first wife Naomi Barkoff Pesses. Brother of Jules S Pesses, Sherri Pesses Sheridan, Jerry J Pesses and the late Ruth Pesses.Father of Leon Ronald Pesses, Harold Alton Pesses and Marilyn Goldie Pesses Kay. Father-in-law of Debbie Pesses, Janet Pesses and Martin Kay. Grandfather of Greta Pesses, Evan Pesses, Danny Pesses, Nancy Pesses, Rachel Kay Bak, Alia Kay Trainer, David Kay and Noah Kay. Great grandfather of Alana Naomi Bak and Naomi Kayla Trainer. Also Survived by other family members Avrumi Bak, Eli Trainer, Leslie, Jeff and Joseph Ressler, Terrie, Tom, Tyler, Brandon and Justin Welz, Michael Slobotsky and Sam Pailet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services from the Jefferson Home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp funeral home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd at 43rd street, on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 1 o'clock pm. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Rabbi Robert H. Loewy and Rabbi Yosie Nemes officiating. Burial will be at Beth Israel Cemetery, 4321 Frenchmen Street, N.O. LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Beth Israel or Congregation Gates of Prayer. Albert was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative and friend - an inspiration to all who knew him. He will certainly be missed.
