Alcus J. "A.J." Brown Jr.

Alcus J. "A.J.'' Brown, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the age of 83. He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters: Betty B. Irving and Leona B. Thomas; brother Leroy Bolden, Jr. (Marian); nieces: Belinda W. Long, Zena D. Nelson and Darria L. Thomas; nephews: Elgin M. Bolden and Reginald Barbarin (LaSharndra); great-nieces: Candace Young-Green and Zoe' C. Nelson; great-nephews Matthew M. Worthy, Courtland and Brice Barbarin; great-great nephew & niece Kane C. & Kendall M. Green. Alcus accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents Alcus J. Brown, Sr., Olga Robert Bolden and Leroy Bolden, Sr.; nieces Parthenia Williams-Worthy and Cherice Maria Thomas; great-nephew Zachary Thomas Nelson; brother-in-laws Joseph Thomas, Silas Williams, Jr. and Oliver Irving, Jr. Alcus served in the United States Air Force for eleven years. He was a retired Merchant Marine Chief Engineer and a retired San Francisco State Civil Service Engineer. He was a resident of San Francisco, California for sixty two years (62), and was a resident of Oakland, California for three years (3). Do to his illness he became a resident of Oakland Health Care Wellness Center until his return to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2017. Alcus became a resident of John J. Hainkel, Jr. Home and Rehabilitation Center and a resident of Poydras Home until his death. Relatives, friends, John J. Hainkel, Jr. Home and Rehabilitation Center, Poydras Home, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Family and neighboring Churches are invited to attend his Homegoing Celebration Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1823 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70113.
