I was saddened to read of the passing of Pastor Darby. My late grandmother, Marietta Bell, and pastor Darby attending Union Baptist Theological Seminary together. I have know Pastor Darby since my youth working with the La Freedmen Assn's Youth Dept. I have had many wonderful and blessed conversations with Pastor Darby and he will certainly be missed. Know that he has transitioned to his heavenly home with his Savior. May God continue to strengthened and keep you.

My prayers are with the family of a great man. He was a pillar of our Saint Bernard community. His church was a true community church. Rev. Darby accepted everyone into his church for funeral service regardless of whether they were members of his church and I appreciated that.

My most influential and most memorable pastor. He turned a five year old into a lifelong believer and advocate for Christ. I cry as I think about my memories as a participant in Fairview Baptist Church Sunbeam Choir, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Not tears of pain, but of victory. Because of Rev. Darby's life, I will continue to have one finger, one thumb in a constant movement as I march in this infantry, ride in this calvary, and fight as a soldier in the army of the lord. So, take your rest Reverand Darby for your work here on earth is still marching on--you have made your 100; consequently, I understand that 99 and a half won't do. For God so loved the world that he gave...

Reverend Darby Jr. Thank you for taking care of all clerical needs of the Hudderson/Guilyot family for many years. You even buried my grandmother the late Indiana Hudderson and didn't beg for one penny. May God continue to bless you in your transition. Thank you for allowing me a preaching engagement two weeks before your rite to passage in death. Sister Darby thank you as well for all of the labor you and your husband poured in me to make me better.
