This year is the 20th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. On Facebook, there's a link https://acloserwalknola.com about the resilience of the music in NOLA. The article mentions Fairview Baptist Church.
I have known The Darby and The White Families for a long time. When I got married in Mississippi, Rev. Darby said the prayer over us. RIP, Rev. You gave us your best.

My most influential and most memorable pastor. He turned a five year old into a lifelong believer and advocate for Christ. I cry as I think about my memories as a participant in Fairview Baptist Church Sunbeam Choir, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Not tears of pain, but of victory. Because of Rev. Darby's life, I will continue to have one finger, one thumb in a constant movement as I march in this infantry, ride in this calvary, and fight as a soldier in the army of the lord. So, take your rest Reverand Darby for your work here on earth is still marching on--you have made your 100; consequently, I understand that 99 and a half won't do. For God so loved the world that he gave...

Condolences to the Darby Family and St Bernard Community Baptist Church Family

Reverend Andrew Darby, you touched so many lives. Your life's work is truly a testimony. There are no words more appropriate than: May the Work I've Done Speak for Me

"I've fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day ~ and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8

Reverend Darby you will live forever in our hearts and memories.
