A FINE UP-STANDING MAN, HE WAS
WE SIMPLY KNEW AS 'GUS'
ANOTHER NAME, WAS MR.E
BETTER KNOWN BY ALL OF US.
A HUMBLE & DEVOTED MAN
WHO CHOSE HIS LOVELY WIFE
'TWAS DOLLY WHO SHARED 60 YEARS
AND STOOD RIGHT BY HIS SIDE.
RAISING CHILDREN, TWO IN ALL
A DAUGHTER, AND A SON
HIS 'CHERISHED' THREE GRANDAUGHTERS
AN ACCOMPLISHMENT; WELL DONE!
A LOVING HUSBAND, CARING DAD
SOFT SPOKEN AND LAID BACK
WITH ONLY KIND WORDS SPOKEN
'GOOD FRIENDS', HE DID NOT LACK.
GROWING UP IN NEW ORLEANS
A MAN OF CHRISTIAN FAITH
HIS GOODNESS AND HIS HONESTY
WERE SOME OF HIS BEST TRAITS.
HIS KNOWLEDGE OF SO MANY THINGS
HAD MOST OF US INTRIGUED
HIS LOVE FOR 'THOMAS JEFFERSON'....
AND HIS TIMELESS JOKES; INDEED!
THE PERFECT MAN TO WORK FOR
HE WAS THE 'GREATEST' BOSS
THERE'S NO ONE WHO COULD TAKE HIS PLACE
OUR WORLD , NOW AT A LOSS.
WITH LOVE, MARIS "MARIO" DEAN

I KNEW THIS VERY SPECIAL MAN
AS GENEROUS AS CAN BE
HE IS, OF COURSE, NONE OTHER
THAN OUR DEAR OLE 'MR. E'.
ALWAYS THERE TO LISTEN
TO PROBLEMS THAT ARISE
WAS CARING AND FORGIVING
AND ALSO VERY WISE.
HIS GENEROSITY OVERFLOWED
HE DID HIS BEST TO PLEASE
HE ONLY THOUGHT OF OTHERS
AND CATERED TO THEIR NEEDS.
HE'D BEEN AN INSPIRATION
IN MANY,MANY WAYS
I KNOW I'LL NE'ER FORGET HIM
NOT IN ALL MY DAYS.
LOVE & SINCERITY, MARIS "MARIO" DEAN

I have fond memories of Gus from when I worked for him in the 60's and 70's. He was always making us laugh with his silly jokes and his Elvis impersonations. He was a great friend to me and I will miss him and his laughter. God bless you, Gus. RIP

Julia and I send our sincere condolence and prayers to Dolly and family on the passing of their beloved Gus Engelhardt.
I am especially touched as Gus was my true contemporary. Gus and I were born in the same hospital on the same day and year.
Gus experienced a life of love of family and friends, and presented a positive influence on all the lives he touched. He will live on in their hearts and minds.

Mr E will be certainly missed, but heaven just got a new angel to watch over us. I worked with him many years ago at Independent Insurance Associates. He always had a smile for you and I remember his love for penguins. My deepest sympathy to his family, Andi Willis Cleveland

Gus and I were plebes together in Baker Company and became close friends during our Citadel career. He was a frequent visitor to my folks home for Sunday dinners during our four years there and my mother considered Gus as one of her Citadel sons. We have stayed in touch over the years and Gus will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and loved him. He was a prince of a man.
