Barbara "Bobbie" Penton

Barbara "Bobbie" Pravata Penton, 76, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, in Slidell. She graduated from Slidell High School and then went on to study education at Southeastern University where she eventually earned a Masters Degree in Education. As a teacher, she taught thousands of children in Slidell -first at Abney Elementary and later at Choose Success Center. In the mid-1990's, she wrote a weekly column in the Slidell Sentry News called "Positive Parenting" where she shared words of wisdom and hope with readers. She loved to remind every person of their goodness by telling them "You're Lovable and Valuable". She will be remembered and missed by family and friends as a "ray of sunshine" with her positive, loving attitude, sense of humor and smile. Bobbie was born June 30, 1944, in Slidell, Louisiana, to Peter and Lucille Pravata. Mrs Penton was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Penton. She is survived by two children, Peter Penton, Susan Penton Caldwell; sisters, Maris Pravata Helfrich, Linda Pravata Bolian, Renell Pravata; six grandchildren, Brandon Penton, Christopher Penton, Allie Penton, Philip Caldwell, Matthew Caldwell, Emily Caldwell; one great-grandchild, Brinley Penton. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John of the Cross, 61030 Brier Lake Rd, Lacombe LA, on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 11:00am. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 9:00am.
