Blanca Mazariegos Colomer

Blanca Mazariegos Colomer passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the age of 80. She was a native of Lima, Honduras and a resident of Kenner, Louisiana. She became a teacher in Honduras at the age of 19 and secured a prized position as a teacher with the United Fruit Company. After moving to the United States, she continued her career in Louisiana as an assistant teacher and then a teacher in both Orleans and Jefferson Parish. She specialized first in teaching Spanish then Special Ed. Her most rewarding job was teaching ESL in the Jefferson Parish School system to new immigrants from all over the world. Her students often commented that they loved her and that she was a sweet old lady. Her night classes always involved a celebration with food and music. She was always a teacher to her children and students. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Colomer and Stephanie LoCoco Colomer; her daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa Colomer Chatelain and Kevin Chatelain; her daughter, Mary Colomer; a granddaughter, Lauren Chatelain; four grandsons, Luke, Logen, Landen Colomer and Allen Chatelain; three sisters, Matilde Mazariegos, Rosa Mazariegos and Esperanza Mazariegos and a brother, Marco Tulio Mazariegos. She will missed dearly by her extended family, friends and students. She passed into His arms listening to "God be with you till we meet again. By his counsels guide, uphold you. With His sheep securely fold you, God be with you till we meet again. Till we meet, till we meet, God be with you till we meet again." Momma, God be with you till we meet again. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in the St. John Mausoleum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
