Brian Roussel Friedman

1977 - 2021

Brian Roussel Friedman, at the age of 44, passed away on August 29, 2021. He was born to Linda N. and Richard S. Friedman on June 11, 1977. He is the grandson of the late Abe J. and Harriet A. Friedman and the late P.R. and Sunny Norman. He is survived by his aunts and uncles Sandra A. and M. Frank Norman and Margo and Sidney Friedman. Brian is also survived by his cousins Kenneth Norman and his wife Liz Lempert Norman and Mark Friedman and his wife Alex Friedman, and Lisa Friedman Miller and her husband Phillip Miller. One of Brian's greatest joys was our family dog, "Muffin". Brian attended Isidore Newman School from kindergarten through 12th grade. He received many academic honors. At Newman, Brian was very involved in basketball. He was on the 7th and 8th grade teams. In upper school, he was on the varsity basketball team. Not big in height he was a point guard. Brian was an excellent ball handler, outside shooter, and consistent from the free throw lines. Following high school, he attended Harvard University. Brian majored in Social Anthropology. In the past, Brian was a contributing writer for the Times Picayune. Brian also wrote interesting articles for NolaVie. Brian also conducted once a month radio interviews. In addition, Brian was involved with "Excite All Star" athletic programs for youths. Brian wrote and produced a screenplay. His movie, "The King of New Orleans" received honors at the New Orleans, Memphis, Santa Fe, and Napa Valley film festivals. Brian was known for his sense of humor. He was always ready to encourage or cheer up others. He was a good friend to others. We love you Brian.
