Cecile LeBlanc

Cecile Marie LeBlanc, 88, journeyed peacefully to her heavenly Father on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Cecile was a native of Napoleonville and a longtime resident of Thibodaux. Cecile was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Samuel A. LeBlanc and Elmire Lafaye LeBlanc. She is survived by her sister, Elmire Dizney, many, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, 13 godchildren, and a host of friends and admirers. Cecile had a long and illustrious career as an educator. She taught Civics for Lafourche Parish Schools for over 25 years, worked for ten years at Nicholls State University supervising student teachers, and for ten years as the first Assistant Principal at St. Genevieve Catholic School. She even taught for a year in England at an armed forces school. Cecile was also a gifted musician and shared that gift generously throughout her life. It is nearly impossible to imagine the number of people whose hearts, minds, and lives she graced with her touch. She never met anyone in need whom she didn't help, and very often anonymously. She was generous to a fault with her time, talent, and treasure. To say she will be missed by many is truly an understatement. Cecile donated her body to the Tulane School of Medicine so there will be no funeral service, but a memorial mass celebrating the life of this great and gracious lady will be held on her birthday, December 28, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux. The mass will also be live streamed on the Church's Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in her memory to St. Genevieve Catholic School or to the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Thibodaux, two of her favorite charities.
