Charles Joseph Cocchiara

Charles Joseph Cocchiara, age 91, passed from this life on March 21, 2023. Loving husband of Olga Adragna Cocchiara for the last 65 years. Son of the late Doctor Peter Cocchiara and the late Gilly Bush Cocchiara. Brother of the late Rosalie Poole (the late Rev. Scott Poole). Devoted father of Peter Joseph Cocchiara (Denise) and Terri Cocchiara (Jason). He is survived by his grandchildren Ashli Cocchiara Resendez (Justin Sr.), Charles Louis Cocchiara (Courtney), Brian Cocchiara, Derek Charles Cocchiara (Nikki), Miranda Cocchiara (Brandon Sr.), and Hailee Hernandez (Timmy Jr.). He is also survived by his great grandchildren Justin Jr., Bella, Brandon Jr., Collin, Timmy III, Charleigh, and Tanner Charles. Brother in law of the late Jackie and Sweets Aromy, Jean Reilly (the late Francis), Marlene Koschmann (the late Ed), the late Faith and Carlos Clouatre, Billy Adragna (Judy) and many nieces and nephews. Godfather of Garilyn Bailey, Timmy Reilly and the late Mickey Reilly. Before Katrina, he was a vice president at Whitney Bank until retirement. After retirement, he spent his life loving and caring for his grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do was take his grandkids to City Park for the paddleboats. He had a strong love for the stock market, Cafe Du Monde, Johnny's Po Boys and Cadillacs. To know him was to love him. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him knows how giving and selfless he truly was. He will be missed dearly. Family and friends are invited to honor Charles' memory on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin in his memory at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
