Charles LeBlanc Obituary

LeBLANC Charles S. LeBlanc, Sr., age 86, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Dunn LeBlanc and brother of the late Alphonse Joseph "Joe" LeBlanc, Jr. (wife Florence). He will be sadly missed by his seven children: Charles S. LeBlanc, Jr., Alice L. Crumrine, Margaret "Peggy" LeBlanc (husband Gerald Burns, M.D.), Kathleen L. Plauche' (husband Teddy), Mary Suzanne L. Krajcer, John D. LeBlanc (wife Myra) and Patrick J. LeBlanc (wife Leslie). He is survived by 11 grandchildren: Janelle L. Green (husband Derrick), Tracy K. Battard (husband Alex), Justin E. LeBlanc (wife Katherine), Michael D. Krajcer, II, Molly A. LeBlanc, Alexandra E. LeBlanc, Katie L. Krajcer, Emma C. LeBlanc, Jordan T. LeBlanc, Thomas L. Crumrine and Isabella S. LeBlanc. He is also survived by his friend, Mrs. Jeanne Barre, and several nieces and nephews in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Washington, California and Montana. Born in Bunkie, Louisiana and having attended LSU until his service in WWII interrupted his studies, he was an avid LSU Tiger fan all his life. He and his wife, a WWII Army nurse, courted in India and married in China and then returned to New Orleans to raise their family. Having always worked in the financial world, he retired as a vice president of the former First NBC. Even in retirement he stayed involved in various civic and religious organizations. He was most proud of his work with the "Keep Christ in Christmas Committee" serving as the New Orleans chairman for over 20 years and of his 50+ year membership with Marquette Council, Knight of Columbus. Over the years he served as Grand Knight, as District Deputy, as a Dedicated Member of the Bienville Assembly of the Fourth Degree and as State Ceremonial Chairman. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Jayne Gurtler and her staff, Egbert Ming, Gloria Williams and Lucy Crabtree for their kindness and support during his final illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy. in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interment will be in Restlawn Park in Avondale, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either The Keep Christ in Christmas Committee, c/o Marquette Knights of Columbus, 314 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, LA 70130 or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Louisiana Chapter, 3636 South I-10 Service Road, Suite 304, Metairie, LA. Our Dear Family of Stafford,
I am the daughter of Catherine "Kitty" Wright Bullington Franques - cousin to "Stafford". I am so grateful to my cousin Mary Miller for letting me know about Stafford's death. All of my life I've heard about Stafford from my mother. She cherished him. I recently read through her collection of letters where she spoke of Stafford and his activities.
Unfortunately, of all of the "great aunts and uncles", I only knew Sister Incarnata, who was beloved to me -- in fact, I have assumed her "Holy Card Ministry" -- everyone at St. Ann Parish in Waihe`e Maui knows that "Holy Cards" come from Aunty Cathy!
Please accept this as a very small token of love and friendship -- from family members who are sooo far away -- and yet united in the bond of family and love. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I pray that God will bless you and hold you in the palm of His hand.
Thank you for reading my message; and thank you for being the beautiful family of Charles Stafford LeBlanc.

With God's Love,
Cathy (Bullington Franques) Riley

To all of Uncle Stafford's Family
We are saddened to hearing of the passing of Uncle Stafford. He was a gentle soul who, as I recall, was quick to laugh and quicker to give a hug. You all are in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of our friend and brother knight, Charles. We regret our not being able to attend the wake or funeral services because of doctor's appointment. Be assured, however, that Charles will be in our prayers. He was a tremendous person and a great friend to many. To Charles we say: good trip to Heaven and
