Christopher Roussel Obituary

Christopher Norton Roussel passed away on January 30, 2024 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 49. Chris was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 3, 1974 to Barbara Rose Norton Roussel and the late Norton Decatur Roussel, Sr. Chris attended B. English Preschool, Holy Name of Jesus Lower School, New Orleans Academy Middle School, St. Paul's Academy, and graduated from Riverdale High School. He also attended Deep Woods Summer Camp in North Carolina. He worked for Meritt Sprinkler Company and at one time started his own Lawn Service and Pool Cleaning Company. Chris played baseball on the Carrollton Boosters All Star Little League. He loved to fish, hunt, cook, and visit with his grandparents in the country, inspiring his love for horses. Chris loved being with his Uncle George in Pass Christian, Mississippi and the beaches of Florida which was also a second home for him. He enjoyed playing rounds of golf with his maternal grannie at the New Orleans Country Club and snow skiing with his brother and mother during many Mardi Gras celebrations. Chris was especially proud of his only child, Morgan Rene Roussel, and never shied away from vocalizing it. Chris is survived by his mother, Barbara Rose Norton Roussel; his only sibling, Norton D. Roussel, Jr.; his daughter, Morgan R. Roussel; and many nieces and nephews as well as his aunts and uncles, Dede and Allen Roussel, Richard and Linda Roussel, Hebert Roussel, Nancy and Harry Forst, Tim and Debra Norton, George M. Norton and Joann Merse. He is also survived by Morgan's maternal grandmother, Kathy Linn; Morgan's mother, Jessica Linn; and his former wife, Maria Fernandez. He is preceded in death by his father, Norton Decatur Roussel Sr., and grandparents, Maria and Irvin Dymond, Montgomery F. Norton of Wisconsin, and Phoebe and Foots Roussel. He is also preceded in death by Uncle James and Aunt Fay Coleman and Daisy, his childhood caretaker. The family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life following the interment. Interment will be held at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Salvation Army of Greater New Orleans. George and JoAnn Norton

Chris was a happy man who enjoyed life. He adored his family. Morgan was his sunshine. His life was cut too short. He always reminisced about staying at George s summer home in the Pass with Norton and Uncle George when fishing.and he was the most handsome gentleman when he escorted me with Norton on theQueens float. May God console all who lived him and bless him in heaven. Love, Uncle George and Aunt JoAnn.

I haven't seen Chris much lately because we were both in different areas most of the time. But when I did, he was always so upbeat, friendly, happy. It is unimaginable to me that he has left us at such an early age. He will be missed.
