Cyril Curran Obituary

Cyril Patrick Curran passed away suddenly in Drumheller on September 25, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Cyril is lovingly remembered by his children Michele (John) Ricard, Brian Curran, Trish (Pat) Deagle and their children Jonathan, Jordan, Kevin, and Brad; Angela (Ron) Feledichuk and their children Paul (Kelly and daughter Emma), Daryn, Michael, Sarah, and Mark; Annalisa (Tim) Sherman and their children Christopher, Tessa, Meghan, Claire, and Brenna; Jane (Brent) Kopec and their children Alyssa and Kira; and many brothers and sisters both here and in Ireland. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Joan.

Dad was a renaissance man who loved life, from car racing on the Amalfi coast, to steer wrestling at the Calgary Stampede, to flying a plane. He supplemented his life of adventure with reading, listening to opera, tennis, and playing golf. Dad was a visionary and man of action and never shied away from correcting a wrong.

He was born in Ireland and immigrated to Toronto, Canada with Joan, "The Bride". He worked at the Toronto Stockyards and then moved to CDM as a manager in Lethbridge. From there he co-owned Parsons & Curran and was involved in Red Deer Feedlot. He owned and operated Lacombe, Veteran, and Hanna auction marts.

When Joan became ill, they moved to Brooks and he changed his career as a financial advisor. With Joan's passing Dad became very interested in technology, specifically solar energy, which occupied much of his time in the last few years.

Dad never lived in the past and when challenges came he would just say "Next" and look on toward the future. He loved his children and his grandchildren with every bit of his heart. We all loved him so dearly. We are glad you and mom are together, again forever. You always said "It's hard to kill a bad thing". You, admittedly were never a saint, but obviously this quote didn't apply to you. Sláinte.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, (1414 Shawnessy Blvd SW), on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Dear Trish, Pat, Jonathan, Jordie, Kevin, and Brad -
I was saddened to hear of Cyril's passing. It was always a pleasure to chat with him after church or in the grocery store. Although I did not know him well, I did know he loved kids. He would always make a fuss of any kids he saw in church or in the neighbourhood (he lived a few doors up from my son's daytime). He kept me updated on the Deagle boys and was so proud of each of you. My sincere condolences.

Cyril was a fine gentleman. I met him here in Drumheller a little over two years ago.
I only learned of his passing this morning when his son, Brian came in to inform me. May his soul RIP, amen.
I enjoyed a few Irish jokes with him......

He was like a surrogate father to me and took me under his wing to teach me our business in the insurance field. I loved him unconditionally and looked forward to all our times together...except maybe golf. He made me laugh and cry with his story telling. I will miss my firey Irish friend so much. Rest in Peace Cyril! My prayers for all your amazing family in this sad time. He was too young to leave us. I know he will be rejoined with his wife Joan who he missed greatly.
