Dale Menard Obituary

Dale Michael Menard. I have competed well; I have finished the game and it was a good one. I leave behind my treasured family - my wife Deborah Callahan Menard; my girls, the twins, Angelle Sabrier Lansou (Jay), Michelle Sabrier Pearson (Robert) and step daughter Jessica Campo. I leave to be remembered as Pops, the apples of my eye, Brody, Addison and Madalyn. My loved brothers and sisters; Sue Marlow ("Doc"), Glenn E. Menard (Jill), Nanci R. Waldo (Steve), Eileen M. Martin (Eric), Cary J. Menard (Melody), Janet M. Rantz (the late Gus), Marcia M. Peyton (Donald) and many wonderful nieces and nephews. I go on to join my parents and great role models, Claire Daroca Menard, Edgar J. Menard, Jr and sister Julie M. Krambeer. I've been fortunate to meet and make lots of friends in my many years in the insurance industry both colleagues and clients. Thanks to them and all my friends for their support, wisdom and confidence. I look back on a rich, blessed, and rewarding journey. Fond memories of people and places - Gentilly, St. Raphael, St. Aloysius, Nicholls State, Gentilly Knights of Columbus, The Camp, Mandeville, The Pub, Ruby's, Donz... books and basketball, good stuff. I have laughed daily and I recommend you do too. Today, have one for me! A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dale-- you were a terrific guy and class mate. When I heard of your passing, it broke my heart. I heard of your sickness and death about two weeks ago when I called Brother Martin. Only the good die young. MY sympathy to your family and friends. You are in my prayers. GOD bless you and your family.

My deepest condolences to all of the Menard family. Dale was closer to me then most of my cousins and treated me like a younger brother. At Kansas City Life´s Broadwater Beach meetings, that were really just a big party, he help me cut my teeth into his dogma of having a good time in life. Working together with him in the past five years I can tell you that our office always enjoyed his standard order at our Christmas parties that were "I´ll take a scotch old fashion and just keep them coming". Life is too short and you will be missed Dale.

Dale,
My sincere condolences to your family and loved ones. You were simply the best and a great leader and role model to us all. Having known you for 67 years, from our Gentilly neighborhood and classmates from St Raphael through St Aloysius, my Champion Track Team Mate, it's with a tear in my eye and a heavy heart that I write this, but so grateful to have known you. Even though I've been gone from NOLA for 45 years, we stayed connected and never lost touch. You've been a great friend for life. Gonna miss you buddy, with your laugh, your smile and jokes and your endless optimism on life in general. I am so grateful to have been able to hang with you one last time this past October in NOLA with some Crusader buddies, and even through you were struggling and at you weakest time, your were amazing and truly outstanding. My wife and son who only just met you there, were so impressed by you and your overall spirit, an inspiration to us all. Love you and will miss you brother. I'm sure they have great Scotch in Heaven, so lift a few for us all, and I will do the same for you in your honor. Please say high to my brother Tom who got there just a little before you. Oh, and by the way, I'm sure it won't take you long to figure out if you can pull some strings next year for the Saints. So, if they win, I know it will be because of you!

Rest in peace, Dale. We were classmates at St. Raphael and St. Aloysius. I have happy memories of playing touch football during recess at St. Raphael and watching you play basketball at St. Aloysius. Let's continue to pray for each other until our souls and hearts come together again to share happy memories.

We shared our early days at school together as you pointed out when we talked last. Incredible you said, kindergarten, St.Raphael, Aloysius, and Nicholls! That´s sixteen years! And one memory stands out how special he was. I was being bullied in 6th grade? and Dale grabbed me picked me up and spun me around and told the bullies he would take care of things. They left, and he set me down easy. I was always appreciative. I never thanked him for that. I never missed a game he played for 7 years! What a great guy!
"Bones" I was hoping to catch up in 2023. Sadly I´ll regret the missed opportunity! Would have loved to meet your family. My condolences to all! Rest in Peace, my friend.

Dale was a special person to all who knew him. He sincerely cared and loved his family and friends and without him saying so, you just knew it by the gleam in his eyes, the smile on his face. And that smile could brighten your day at any given moment. He was and always will be a loving friend. RIP RIP.

I met Dale in 1970 at the family home on Mandeville St. in Gentilly while visiting his younger brother (and my classmate) Cary Menard. I took a liking to Dale instantly and have considered him a friend ever since.

Dale was a genuine `good guy´ with a fantastic sense of humor. Not only was he an outstanding basketball player but an exceptional person as well. He was well-liked and it seems everyone knew Dale one way or the other. I know he will be missed by all.

My condolences to the entire Menard family who I have always respected, envied and admired.

What a great person and wonderful friend. You and Rock were there to comfort my wife (Carol) and I at the passing of our parents. You didn´t have to do that but you did. That sums up the type of person you were. You will always have a special place in our hearts.Rest in peace and put in a good word for me.I need it.

My guy!! Always wearing a smile, laughing, joking and rehashing old times. Mr. Dale was a big part of my childhood as he coached my basketball team. For all the sporting events I played alongside of Angelle and Michelle, if Mr. Dale wasn´t the coach on the sidelines, then he was the coach from the bleachers!! I spent a lot of time by his house as again, the twins and I were close friends.

He was the life of the party and his story was always better than the next guys! You will be missed by many as your personality was infectious.

I´m praying extra hard for your family and friends and I will surly "salute" in your honor!!

Sending my Love,
Ronell LaPorte

I will miss you, Dale! I loved sharing stories and our "picks" regarding horse racing. I learned something new about the industry each time I spoke to you. It was always refreshing to discuss horse racing with someone who knew horses names and individual histories, instead of referring to them as just their "number" for a particular race. Say "hi" to Secretariat for me...give him a carrot too!
