Dave DeMatteo Obituary

Dave Joseph DeMatteo, Sr. passed away on August 7, 2016 at the age of 81years. The loving husband of Betty Schexnaydre DeMatteo for almost 62 years. Dave was the father and father-in-law of Dave Joseph DeMatteo, Jr. and Jamie DeMatteo, Michael DeMatteo and the late Gail DeMatteo. Grandfather of Dave DeMatteo III, and Caleb DeMatteo, Amanda LeBlanc, Chad Shaeffer, Brandon and Jennie LeBlanc, Andrew LeBlanc, Christine and Charles Ruiz, Robin and Jimmy Tarleton, Lacie and David Lannes. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and his brother Giacomo DeMatteo. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Victoria Miller DeMatteo, and his sister, Jean DeMatteo Jones. He retired from National Gypsum Company after more than 38 years of service. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 11am. Interment, Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Westwego, LA. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9am until 11am. The family would like to thank Albert and Nora Schexnaydre for their help and support during this trying time. They would also like to thank the nurses in WJMC CCU for the wonderful care they gave to Dave. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Guiding Eyes For the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 or www.guidingeyes.org. We send our love and deepest regrets that our loving Cousin, Dave DeMatteo Sr. has passed and gone to Heaven. He always was such a sweet and loving cousin and we will always remember him and keep him in our hearts. He was a wonderful son, husband,father, grandfather, Uncle and Cousin. I didn't know Mr. Dave all that well, but I know he was a very nice man who loved his wife and family.He talked about them all the time, and loved his grandchildren especially! You have our condolences, as I know you will all miss him tremendously. Just remember he will always be in your hearts and lives because of the man he was. May God bless you all and keep you in the palm of his hand. may he bring comfort to your hearts as often as you think about him, and the many memories he leaves behind.
