Doris Mae Adamson "MawMaw" Aswad

Doris "MawMaw" Mae Adamson Aswad passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 90. Loving wife of the late Roland C. Aswad; beloved mother of Valerie Greene (Richard), Catherine Windham (Bryan), Joann Aswad, and Steven Aswad (Carol). She was preceded in death by her children Elaine Hassell (Tom) and Roland C. Aswad II (Sandy). She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Sarah Perkins (Shane), Thomas Hassell Jr, William Bayhi Jr., Adrienne Landry (Zachary), Rainna Moran (Ryan), Rhiannon Aswad, and Steven Aswad II, and 7 great-grandchildren. Doris was a stay-at-home Mom, raising her family to be strong, independent individuals. After raising her own children, she cherished the opportunity to help raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a person that gave of herself without hesitation, serving as Eucharistic Minister at St. Agnes Church and volunteering in the choir. In honor of her outstanding service she was awarded the St. Louis Medallion by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Doris lived a full and blessed life, and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at 9:00 am on Saturday September 7, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.
