Today, I cry...It's my mom's 81st birthday and the last gift I gave her was her home-going suit I made for her to lay her to rest. Normally, I would be picking up the phone saying "happy birthday Mom, hope you live to see many more". But today there's a hole in a hollow heart that hurts so deeply. I know it's evident that we all must leave this earth one day, but truly we are never ready when our love ones do. And here, I thought my mom would be in the hospital for a 3 day weekend as usual and this time was different. Mom, now your birthdays are eternal---never-ending in your new home. I'm sure by now, my dad has made you a wonderful birthday cake to share with Jesus, the angels, Aunt Susie, Aunt Dolores, your son, Denise, Ms. Rose and a host of other relatives and friends you've come across. I'm also sure that Bam 'Beamer" is rapping a birthday tune he created for you and Aunt Maude has definitely made you a birthday outfit. Tell Jr. no "red dog" at your party up there, you'll all be drinking 'eternal life juice' now. Don't forget to have your special dance with dad to your favorite song--Living for the Love of You by the Isley Brothers....LOL. Tell Whitney to sing "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU" because I do and also "JESUS LOVES ME" for the finale'. Mom, I think in your last breath-----while I was so near to you, you blew your spirit on me. Now, more than ever, I feel like I'm more like you, doing and making decisions you would make, guarding your home and being protective of family. I feel your strength and courage more every day inside of me. And OMG, Linda looks just like you ---- like your twin. Mom, I hope you're smiling down on us. Everyone is saying--you were such a sweet soul, a sweet kind lady and that you did so well with us. People are telling us your home-going service was so befitting you. Brianne, Nadia and I visited Ms. McCall and Ms. Hicks and they laughed and said--'you were a good mom, you raised us right'. Now you really can "WALK AROUND HEAVEN ALL DAY". You and dad always new how to throw a party and get us together for a good time. You never wanted your own parties or reunion, always celebrated others. However, you brought us all together from near and far in your honor and memory and we all were so glad to see relatives, friends and neighbors. SO MOM, NEVER GOODBYE BECAUSE YOU AND I HAVE MADE ETERNAL ARRANGEMENTS....SO HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN..... Your Daughter Brenda "Bebe" Gould Mims....
