Dorothy Hensche Obituary

Dorothy Schultz Billiu Hensche, brilliant painter of light and color died on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at Thibodaux, Louisiana at 7:30 A.M. Daughter of the late Edgar Schultz and Alma Melton Schultz. Beloved wife of the late Henry Hensche. Mother of the late Darryl and David Billiu. Dorothy Billiu was born in Loranger, Louisiana on February 17, 1926. She resided in Gray, Louisiana, where she established and directed Studio One Art Center in 1968 after the fine art tradition of The Great American Master Henry Hensche of Cape Cod. Continuing the legacy passed on to her of almost one hundred years of teaching, Dotty Biliu became a wonderful teacher and mentor to her beginning, intermediate and advanced students and led them to success in persuing the art of seeing and painting. Since establishing her school, she had traveled around the country, including New York, California and Cape Cod, many summers to advance her knowledge in painting and teaching. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Henry Hensche Foundation, P. O. Box 806, Gray, Louisiana 70359. FALGOUT FUNERAL HOME OF HOUMA in charge of arrangements.
