Douglas T. Stubbs

Douglas T. Stubbs departed this earth to his heavenly home on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Joan Schrieffer Stubbs for 58 years and Sandra Gaudin Stubbs for 8 years. Devoted father of Douglas T. Stubbs, Jr. (Jo Ann) and David H. Stubbs (Tina) and stepfather of Jeffery J. Frederick. Grandfather of Burton D. Stubbs, Kourtney M. Fournier, Kevin D. Stubbs, Rick C. Stubbs, Dana D. Huete, and 13 great-grandchildren. Son of the late Curtis and Claire Stubbs. Douglas was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome, a native of Los Angeles, CA, and a resident of Metairie, LA. He graduated from Frances T. Nichols High School in 1952 where he played football. Douglas started in the Sheet Metal Local Union 11 as an apprentice in 1952 where he completed a 4 year program to be a journeyman. He became manager and then co-owner of Atlas Blowpipe and Sheet Metal Works Inc. until his official retirement in 2000. He lived life to the fullest; he enjoyed flying his plane, boating, and taking long trips in his motorcoach. Douglas especially loved his 11 acres of land in Bush, LA where he built a home and enjoyed building things on the property. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a Mass starting for 12:00 Noon. Due to COVID-19, the funeral is limited to 50 people and you must wear a mask.
