I have just come across this guest book online, while searching to see if I could locate Edith. I am saddened to hear of her death. We were friends, classmates and fellow chemistry majors at Howard University. We were roommates briefly after college and later met again and worked together while on the faculty at Howard University School of Medicine. I remember Edith as kind, friendly, vibrant and very smart. My sincere condolences to the Higginbotham family.

I am a bit late in placing this memory of Edith, but nonetheless never more sincere. I was a classmate of Edith's in JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (at Samuel J. Green Jr. High School). I was among such other luminaries as Stanley Hill, Deidre Johnson, Manuella Murphy, Simone Jefferson, Neari Francois, etc. I lost track of Edith when we went different ways for our senior high school studies, but I never forgot her. She was exceptional, a sincere high achiever and a lady. I never forgot her example.
Later in life I accidentally met her mother. It was a pleasure talking with her and learning of Edith's occupation and progress--at that time I believe her mother said that she (her mother) had been a teacher. (I'm a retired educator). After that I knew nothing until I saw the notice of her death.
You have my deepest sympathy, and please believe, "the rose still grows beyond the wall." She was a lovely person, an inspiration, and all things good; and, I hope to see her again in the afterlife

Dear Family,
I was behind Edith in medical school but knew her well because Terry and my first husband, Hampton Jackson, were very good friends.
She was always vibrant and alive and she loved life.
I couldn't believe the news of her passing and send deep condolences to the family.
May our Lord comfort each of you and give you peace during this sad time.
